Laskoff & Associates Welcomes new associate Courtney Michalec, and C. Martin Berman, of counsel
The Lewiston law firm of Laskoff & Associates is pleased to announce that S. Courtney Michalec of South Portland has joined the firm as an associate attorney, and C. Martin Berman, formerly of the Lewiston firm Berman & Simmons, has become of counsel.
Ms. Michalec is a 2006 cum laude graduate from the University of Maine School of Law. While attending law school, Ms. Michalec served
as a Legal Writing Instructor, a member of the Trial Team, and Co-Chair of the Class of 2006 Moot Court Board. Upon her graduation, Ms. Michalec received the Gignoux Award for Appellate Advocacy and the Faculty Award for Trial Advocacy.
Ms. Michalec joins the firm upon completion of a clerkship with the Maine Superior Court.
Prior to law school, Ms. Michalec earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and worked as a paralegal for a Charlottesville, Virginia litigation firm.
Ms. Michalec will be practicing in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury law, family law, administrative law and criminal defense.
Mr. Berman has practiced law for 53 years with the Lewiston firm of Berman & Simmons (formerly Berman, Berman & Berman) with his father, the late Benjamin Berman, and his uncle, the late David Berman. Mr. Berman is a member of the Androscoggin County, Maine State, and American Bar Associations; Maine Trial Lawyers Association; the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and is a founding member of the Lakes Environmental Association.
Mr. Berman will continue his practice in the area of probate.
